Video Games in Retrospect: Nolan Bushnell

Join us for a fascinating evening with Nolan Bushnell, founder of Atari and a key player in the growth and popularity of the first video games. Bushnell, who is often considered the father of electronic gaming, will discuss how far video games have come and how it all started. Free advance reservations are required. Lecture will be webcast at AmericanArt.si.edu.

The Evolution of Video Games panel discussions, presented from 3-6 p.m. on March 16th,  are free and do not require registration. Please note, the auditorium will be closed between 6 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. No seats may be saved or reserved.

Individuals registered for Nolan Bushnell's talk may pick up tickets, which are required for entry to the museum’s auditorium, in the museum’s G Street lobby beginning at 5:30 p.m.; auditorium doors open at 6:30 p.m. Although the event is general admission, ushers will be on hand to direct you to your seats so all are filled in an orderly and efficient manner. Incomplete parties may not hold seats. At 6:55 p.m., all empty seats will be released to individuals waiting in a stand-by line. No one will be admitted to the auditorium after 7 p.m. No exceptions.

Immediately following this program, at 8:30 p.m., a screening of TRON will be shown in the Kogod Courtyard. Registration not required.
